The Dallas Museum of Art
The Dallas Museum of Art was established in 1903. It is one of the 10 largest museums in the country. This museum is located in the nation’s largest arts district, in Dallas, Texas. It engages people of all ages and backgrounds as there is a diverse spectrum of programming. There are exhibitions, lectures, concerts, literary events, and dramatic and dance presentations. The museum is known for its educational programs and its dynamic exhibition policty. In 2013, the museum returned to free general admission, and since, it has welcomed more than 3.2 million visitors.
The collection at the Dallas Museum of Art contains over 24,000 works of art. These works of art are from all time periods and cultures that span 5,000 years of human creativity. The galleries are constantly changing and there are new pieces are being added all of the time.
The museum offers hundreds of experiences for visitors of any age! There are adult programs for those looking for a hands-on art-making experience or just a fun night out. There are teen programs for those ages 14-19. These programs help teens meet and collaborate with new friends, make connections with global cultures, and find inspiration in new places.
The Dallas Museum of Art offers workshops and classes for kids of all ages as well as families. The museum also offers school programs that are committed to educating, empowering, and engaging the community through experiences that foster connections between students’ and teachers’ daily lives and classroom learning.
The museum is closed on Mondays, open 11-5 from Tuesday to Thursday, open 11-9 on Friday, and open 11-5 on Saturday and Sunday. It is closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. It closes at 5pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
General admission is free, however, it does require a ticket secured for entry. Tickets can be reserved online in advance. Walk-ups will be accommodated. General admission includes viewing the collection galleries and most exhibitions in the Museum. Special exhibitions will require a paid admission ticket.
Memberships are available to the Dallas Museum of Art. Becoming a member gives you exclusive access to the museum. Parking is free with your membership.
The Museum Store offers a wide variety of gifts, children’s items, prints, jewelry, and textiles that allow visitors to remember or share their experience at the museum.
